What Should I Do?

Psalm 46:1 (NIV) God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Hallelujah! This verse is refreshing and soothing to the soul! God is our refuge! God is our strength! God is ever-present! That is so awesome! Where can you find such a thing? Where can you find such a person? Yes, we have loved ones who will do almost anything for us but there is no one who is ever-present! Yes, we may have people in our lives we can run to in times of trouble, but you know you can wear out your welcome with folks. My point, there is no one like our Lord and Savior. He is never too busy. He welcomes us every time we come to Him. When you have God on your side who can stand against you? What trouble is too big for our God?

Psalm 46:1 mentions times of trouble… Let me encourage you because we all have seen our share of trouble, you could be in trouble right now! When I say trouble I am speaking of problems in our lives. When we are in trouble sometimes we can see no way out, just remember we serve a God who can make a way out of no way. Remember He formed the earth out of nothing! Trust God! When we are in trouble sometimes we think we have to do something and/or we don’t know what to do. Remember we serve a God who is all-knowing His thoughts are higher than our thoughts in times like that we need to let God be God in our lives and focus on what He told us to focus on. Do you remember what He said? In case you forgot, He said to focus on Him He also said the battle is not ours its His. We have an understanding of our problems but we also understand God is able to handle it and He will either give you peace in it or bring you out but YOU must believe and trust!

We serve an Awesome God there is no one like Him! You should pray and tell the Lord about your trouble and then start praising Him for what He has already done and what He will continue to do because He is faithful!

When you start feeling like your problems are becoming more than you can handle just remember this verse and gain peace and strength from it! Be encouraged, keep believing, keep trusting!

Do It Right the First Time!

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

This sounds easy peasy! All we have to do is let the Lord know what we want to do and he will give us the plan on how to do it. Easy enough right? Wrong! Why do we, maybe I should speak for myself, why is it that I have a “bright” idea I go ahead with it and when things don’t work out like I think they should I’m looking like ??

It’s because I did not consult God first! Has that ever happened to you? I am going to commit to putting God first. There are some benefits to putting Him first.

  • you don’t waste your time
  • when you’re in God’s Will you have peace through the process
  • God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts so things could work out way better than we anticipated

Those are just 3 things that could happen when we commit what we’re doing to the Lord.

When we commit what we’re doing to the Lord and He establishes our plans, that does not mean trouble will not come. When God establishes your plans and trouble comes you will have peace in the midst of your trouble because you know He will never leave or forsake you. If you do not have peace during trouble it could be God didn’t establish your plans or He did establish your plans and you’re not fully trusting Him.

Let’s live life like God intended for us to live, free! We don’t have stress whenever things don’t go our way we just need to trust in Him. His Word is true. Cast your cares on Him, He cares for you! Remember Daniel in the lions den? The Lord didn’t take him out of the den He was with Daniel in the den. We will have to go through some stuff. I imagine Daniel fully trusted in the Lord and he came out victorious. You can do the same thing. Whatever your lions den may be, know that God is with you and you can be victorious just do your part and trust in Him! Do it right the first time by consulting God in all you do. If you haven’t already, accept Christ as your personal Savior and began to live! Continue to Be Blessed!

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus. We thank You for Your mercy and Your grace. We praise You for being our God! Lord, we repent of our sins, anything not like You, we repent. We ask that You forgive our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Thank You, Father, for Your forgiveness.

Lord, we thank You for Your Word. It is soothing to our souls. Our desire is to please You. We ask that You help us as we go about our daily lives. We want to focus on You and put You first in our lives. With You for us who can be against us? Thank You, Father for never leaving or forsaking us.

Lord, we surrender to Your Will. We ask that Your Holy Spirit guide our thoughts so our speech and actions reflect You. We will forever give You praise, honor, and glory.

In Jesus name, we ask and pray,

Amen

Re-Focus

Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

What does this really mean? Is this saying, if I don’t like my financial situation that I should not try to do better? I don’t think so. I think many people confuse this verse. When you read the verse carefully it says keep your lives free from the love of money. The love of money will get you in trouble. When you love money, your life starts to revolve around it. When your life is preoccupied with getting money it cannot be focused on God at the same time (Matthew 6:24). We have to be very careful in our “pursuit of happiness.” We have to acknowledge God in all our ways and He will show us the road to success (Proverbs 3:6).

The verse goes on the say to be content with what you have. This may be hard because as a society we are taught from an early age to always strive to be better and to have more. Well that is well and good as long as God is in the middle. When God is in the focus of your life your desire for “more” won’t turn into greed.

Take a self-assessment of your needs and wants. Do you have everything you need? Do your wants consume you? Do you have peace or are you always searching for that next thing to make you happy?

Remember we are not here to pay bills and die. We are not here to acquire as many “things” as we can and die. We are here to love God and one another. When your success clouds what we are really here to do, it’s time to re-access your life and how you spend your time.

Think about it like this, if you were told you have 2 more years to live what would you do with your time? I imagine you would still work to have a roof over your head, eat and pay utilities, but would about the other stuff? Would the stuff you are stressing over right now be the same if you knew when your end was? If the answer is no, then take another look at what you are doing. Give it to God.

God said He will never leave or forsake you. You must believe that. If you believe that then you will start to have the peace that only God can give. You may even start to concentrate on your health instead of your wealth. When you are connected to the owner of all of this, your Father will meet your needs according to the riches of His glory! You can’t top God in riches! Let the Lord bless you and you will be truly blessed in ways you could not imagine or even think of for yourself.

If you haven’t already, accept Christ as your personal Savior and began to live! Continue to Be Blessed!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Lord, we thank You for Your Word that You have so graciously given us. Thank You for Salvation which is the Greatest Gift one could receive! Lord, sometimes we struggle to be content. We get wrapped up into what the world has to offer and lose focus of You. Lord, we ask that You help us focus. Your Word says You will keep us in perfect peace if we keep our minds on You. Thank You, Father. Help us, Lord.

Lord, we surrender to Your Will. We ask that Your Holy Spirit guide our thoughts so our speech and actions reflect You. We will forever give You praise, honor, and glory.

In Jesus name, we ask and pray,

Amen
